Post Secret

I have been reading these post cards and watching these videos all night.
I heart seems to bleed a little more after each post. I am totally contemplating sending in my own secret.

I love the fact that Frank (the founder of PS) has made a difference in the world. He is someone that I aspire to be like.

Highlights of the Day

I had a pretty slack day today. Slept in (the joy of not working Saturday's), went to work anyways so that I could drop off one of my basses to get fixed, I dropped by my grandpa's house and did a little shovelling for him. After that I had lunch with my cousin and then had a few pals over before the nights end. I am right about to close my eyes for the night but I figured I needed to let y'all know about a special part of my day.

I spent lunch today with my cousin Sarah. Her birthday falls a few days before mine so we have maintained a ritual of going out for our birthdays over the past few years. Today we hit up Moxies on Kenaston and just chatted. It was such an amazing experience. I know you have heard me brag about it in the past, but I must bring it up again. I have such an amazing family. Gahh, it's just mind blowing.

Anyways, Sarah has her own business in Winnipeg, she is a esthetician and her company is called Pure White. She is getting set up with a blog and all that jazz, so if you are in Winnipeg and need your nails, makeup or whatever done, I highly recommend her. If you want to drop me a message I can get you her contact, I will also post a link in the coming weeks.

Anyways, I figured that I needed to post bragging about how stinking awesome Sarah is and how sweet my family is. My wish is that everyone could have the same experience with their families as I do with mine.

Oh, you can expect some memory box posts soon.

Christ In Me

The very song that had led me to despise Christianity has somehow brought me back to it.

I don't expect you to understand my journey, I just ask that you start your own, free from antagonizing overtones and an overly critical mind. Keep your sense of skepticism, for if you do start your journey it will serve you well, but in the same sense keep an open mind, no one has ever learned a thing with a closed mind.

May Grace rest upon your shoulders as you go about your day, and while you go about your journey.

If I Told You That I Loved You.

So I had my 18th Birthday Party yesterday, I had a house full on my friends and we hung out for a few hours. Beats were pumping and it was just an overall good time. Headed out to Triple B's afterwards with a few close bud's and shot some pool, honestly a solid night. Got to bed by four AM and got up by 9.30 for Church. It was well worth it.

I pulled out my "memory box" from underneath my bed to put away the cards and letters that I got for my birthday. It turned into me pulling everything out and going through it all. It was a pretty sweet thing, I am going to share the majority of items in my box on le blog in the coming weeks. For those of you who have known me for a while this may bring back some memories for you, just like it does for me. I will probably break down the box into chunks of information. Like (16th Birthday, Christmas '08 etc.) I am actually pretty excited to examine everything that happens to be in there and to have a written form of my thoughts about it.

Got myself a new pair of jeans! They were my birthday present to myself. They are called "WeirdGuy" by "Naked & Famous". I have never paid so much for jeans in my life, but am pretty excited for wearing them. They rock out with some of the new kicks I have. It's been a good shopping January.

"We got ourselves a story as long as the winter,
we've got ourselves a tangled piece of string,
and I'm all wound up and ready to unwind.
From memories to memories of walking side by side,
sweet sarcastic smiling, pushes me I'm falling,
darling I'm going to make you mine."

A sweet Del Barber Lyric from "If I Told You That I Love You."

As you go about your day, go in peace, knowing that the Creator of life is in your presence, or rather, you are in His.

Miles and Years

I recently turned 18 years old. Yes, that joyous time when in Winnipeg I am finally 'legal'. I have a weekend of parties coming up that I am looking forward to! I also went through a memory box that I keep under my bed. Reading past memories that I have jotted down and looking over cards, reading old poems of mine and all that jazz. I may give y'all an insight to my memory box in the coming days.

I got my hands on the new Del Barber CD. Titled Love Songs for the Last 20. There are some seriously thought provoking tracks on there. Ranging from the tear of an old lover to life on the prairies. One of my favourites must be track 10, titled 62 Richmond. I know the 62 Richmond fairly well, though I never ride that bus I see it pass me everyday. The story of this song is a man who has talked himself up to be untouchable but in the end is a liar. Here is a snippet of lyrical content.

"He danced all night on Friday,
Put back 50 shots.
But his mind never felt the Whisky,
He thought the clearest thoughts.
He knew the best place for breakfast,
where to find the cheapest lunch.
He could make the perfect pancake,
he could brew the perfect punch.
He wasn't much of a boxer,
But he never lost a fight.
He was stronger than a horse,
and faster than the light.
He knew all the best cities,
and places to steer clear.
Held his head high through every door,
and never felt an ounce of fear.

In the morning light, he was exposed
at a bus stop, confusion's got him cornered.
Waiting to be saved by the revolution,
but all that comes is the 62 Richmond."

Sometimes I wonder if I am this guy. We are all born with an ego, some are bigger than others. It is something that I have to keep a constant check on, every now and again I realize that my head is getting bigger and that I need to take a step back. See, many people struggle with this, the only thing is that people who don't keep their ego's in-check portray themselves as ass-holes that nobody wants to talk to, I don't want to be that dude.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
